Coastal/Pacific-Northwest Cruises
Coastal and Pacific Northwest cruises present a great opportunity to have a great long weekend. Most coastal cruises range between 1-5 days . This allows people who want to try cruising for the first time a short trip to test the waters (pun intended of course!). It also provides a chance for busy bees to take a great mini-escape. These cruises can be packaged with land holidays like Disneyland or Las Vegas at an attractive price!
Although the cruise duration is short, you will visit distinct ports of call. Pacific Northwest cruises leave from Vancouver or Seattle and go to nearby ports such as Victoria, and sometimes to small coastal communities that we rarely get to visit. Coastal cruises travel the coast, typically from LA or San Diego, into Vancouver or Seattle or vice versa, depending on time of year. Vancouver had the world watching during the 2010 Winter Olympics and proved to the world that Canada is not just the land of ice and snow. Enjoy it's fabulous and diverse cuisine, stunning beauty and proximity to nature. Nearby, Victoria displays its beautiful gardens and English heritage. Seattle, home of the Space Needle and the Pike Place Market will keep you busy for hours. If you are on a coastal cruise, after visiting Astoria, a small town on the Oregon coast, perhaps you’ll be off to the rolling hills of San Francisco and golden beaches of San Diego!
Things to Know
Cruise season for these itineraries is very short and happen s when cruise ships reposition in the spring (April/May) from southern itineraries up to Alaska and in the fall (end of September) when they return to hot spots like the Panama Canal.
Occasionally you will see a short duration cruise from either Seattle or Vancouver that may go up to one or two Alaska ports on a short duration cruise.
Even though you are close to home, when you get onboard the ship, you are technically in the US...so for Canadians, out of the country emergency medical is still essential.
